Pacific Northwest Ski blog (and a few other places!)

Lots or reports from skiing around the Pacific Northwest, with some East Coast excursions thrown in for good measure

Off to an early start – skiing mid-November at Crystal Mountain

I love the Cascades. It started snowing on November 7th, and by the 11th several feet of snow had fallen and ski resorts were opening up. We chose Crystal for the convenience and on-hill digs, and had a thoroughly enjoyable opening weekend. The snow on Saturday was mid-winter quality, with some nice fluffy pow fields easily mined. Sunday warmed up a little, but with very few people, the pistes stayed in better condition for longer.

A few rock hits, one nasty one on my old Head Monster IM82s, but nothing unfixable. In general the cover was perfectly skiable as long as you were a little careful.

2009-10 ski season is up and running – I love skiing on November 14th!!

Season Totals:

2 days – 9800m vert
